The Whole Enchilada (or taco recipe) and Dealing with Toxic Relationships.

Yes, relationships. It all boils to relationships (not the taco, thou.) 😉

Hello again!

I will be sharing the taco recipe today along with this post… Ingredients first.

Step One.

Ingredients

2 cups hydrated hibiscus flower

2 red tomatoes, diced

Âź white onion finely chopped

1 jalapeno or serrano chili pepper, finely diced

Âź cup coriander (cilantro)

½ teaspoon olive oil

1 jicama in very thin slices (these are your tortillas)

Salsa, and lime juice

As for the toxic relationship: a person exhibiting toxic behaviors and another person buying in them. PERIOD.

You might have noticed that on my other posts I stress three things: a behavior, someone buying in and an unhealthy dance or toxic relationship they have.

Again, it takes two to tango. Maybe because of my background as a humanistic counsellor, in Gestalt and on Robbinss-Madanes training I tend to focus on empowerment and the possibility of healing. I typically do not tag others and do not diagnose in my coaching or in my practice. That’s for Psychiatrists, and DSM V criteria. But I.Don’t.Do.That.

Step Two.

Break the pattern. Yes, you heard me well, break the pattern. And I will set forth three roads for you to choose from, because I believe what Tony says, a choice implies at least three options.

One. Leave the scene or the relationship. On the leave part you can do it either physically or emotionally. Be bolder and do both? I know some of these relationships might be family, so the emotional part (even the physical one) might be difficult and seem impossible.

Two. Learn to laugh at yourself and take things with humor. Chances are the offender might be caught off track and either stop in the turmoil come back with a vengeance. Still take it with humor, as you’ve been warned.

Three. Observe from love. Yes, you heard well, from love, specifically SELF-LOVE. Instead of understanding and making puzzles around THEIR behavior. Take a step back, pause and love yourself more. That’s the first step to be unhooked from it all.

Ah, the taco recipe:

How to make the tacos:

  1. Put the hibiscus to boil in water for 5 to 8 minutes at medium to high heat. (You can use the concentrated tea that comes from its boiling and keep it to prepare hibiscus water, a Mexican delicacy).
  2. Dice the hibiscus in fine chops.
  3. Rinse in tap water. If the hibiscus is still a bit stiff, set it to boil for another 5 to 8 minutes.
  4. In a hot pan, warm a bit of oil and cook for the tomato, the onion and the chili peppers for 5 minutes, if you don’t want for it to be a hot dish you can remove the seeds from the peppers or not add them at all.
  5. Add the diced hibiscus flower, the coriander and a pinch of salt and pepper.

Step Three

Take steps forward to get out of the toxic relationships and you will see your life improve.

You will notice an increase of happiness, energy and positivity in your life. Sooo… #StepUp

It’s your time to #RISE to #RAWR and #Live2Soar.

See? Now you can enjoy better relations hips, AND healthier tacos!!!

Oh, oh, serve the hibiscus in the jicama and enjoy your tacos. You can add salsa, the lime juice or go bold and add guacamole!

Have an awesome weekend!

Extinguish Burnout by Doing these Three Things!!!

  1. Breathe – You’re perhaps thinking, I do that every day. And I’m sure you do! The trick is doing it in a mindful way. And here’s my favorite way to do so. It will work if you’re a beginner or an advanced yoga or meditative practitioner. Aternate Nostril Breathing  –  Close your right nostril with your right thumb inhale   27 in left, deeply through your left nostril. Close your left nostril with your right ring finger exhale 27 out right, inhale from that very same nostril – 26 in right, cover it and then exhale from your left nostril – 26 out left, inhlae from that nostril -25 in left … keep on repeating the procedure and count down from 27 down. I typically get to 16 and feel a lot more calm.
  2. Move – may it be 2 minutes, 5 or 10, but move! A great tip is to dance in your place, walk, still running, etc… If you’re at your office, get a standing desk or (if you get the chance) walk while on the phone. Should that not be an option, walk 10-20 minutes after lunch at a brisk pace, the movement and oxygen will clear and calm your mind.
  3. Avoid simple carbs (sugars and white pastas),processed and pre-packaged foods (sweet rolls, breads, chips and sodas …) and alcohol. All these will spike the sugar levels in your blood.,your body produces more cortisol and your body, then, stresses from within too!

And remember, “The cyclone derives its powers from a calm center, so does a person.” Norman Vincent Peale.

Happy Friday!

Day 4! Emotional Healing on the Go!

Hello everyone!

I hope you’re finding our challenge useful for your growth. Why tie emotion to diet? Well, we are setting foth a lifestyle and emotional healing is key for sustainable weight-loss plan.

The principles are:

  1. Whatever is weighing you down is weighing you in and keeping you packing up pounds.
  2. A balanced life needs a healed heart and a positive mind.
  3. Negative emotions will reduce serotonin production and raise cortisol, therefore keeping you hungry and binging.

Dealing with toxic emotions is healing way beyond your diet because it will help you let go of patterns and behaviors that could eventually make you stressed, depressed and eventually ill. One of the first keys when dealing with toxic emotions is: OWNING THEM.

Yes, Owning Them, the emotion is actually how You feel towards any given person of situation. As a Gestalt Psychoterapist, I believe in contact – the +1 party that emerges when two or more people interact. So it is true too that some people will bring out either the best or worst in you. The secret to this is… how long does that emotion last? Does it linger enough to turn into an ache, allergy or conditon?

I cannot continue much longer on this or I’ll write a whole book on it here, Now. The whole idea is to be aware that your emotions are yours. NO person, thing or event makes you feel. You feel.

Just take note, for now. Feed the positives and for all that’s good in you do not feed your fears or your stress.

Lent days 27 & 28 – Opening the Growth Gate!

Hiii!!!

How are you? Have you been working with the tools I’ve been sharing? If so, you’ve just started on an amazing path for growth and abundance.

As you might have noticed, I have shared posts on: Diet, Movement, Spirituality and emotion. Yes, our program is a comprehensive one. Yes, it all started with a weight-loss program, and as our fat started melting our inner healing started growing. Yes, we promote fitness through martial arts, yoga or any form of breathing, and exercise working with yur own weight.  Yes, we advocate for a quiet mind and an open soul, and we promote prayer and/or meditation. Yes, we encourage emotional de-tox too! Specifically when aimed at you by you!

My intention with this post is to summarize a bit what this 27 days have been about, and leaving you a lee-way to process this all. ..

#1 Detox — from foods, emotions, thoughts and words

#2 Breathe! – exercise, move if even for 10 minutes every few hours.

#3 Pray/Meditate – let your mind be still and your heart listen.

As you love yourself, love will surround you more and more by the day!

Healing is a powerful path, and with whichever tool you start, we want to help you SOAR!

To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.” – Mark 12:33

Lent days 23 – 26! Xtreme Detox – 2!

Hello again!

This fasting is a call for cleansing. I know I have not posted for a few days, as I walk the talk or this process, I am developing and exploring what to share.

And the plan we promote goes way beyond dieting, it scrapes at the core of your allowing toxins in your body… from foods to people.

Mind your words for they create your reality. Watch your words when you speak about others,  as they could find their way back to you.

But above all, watch the words you allow or speak to yourself. This is you life and Your story and nobody else’s.

It DOES matter which glasses you’re seeing the world with, for that is what you will seek to achieve.

It DOES matter how you relate to others – with unconitional love and acceptance? Or are you hooked on remorse, unforgiveness or lack of acceptance – remember they’re your mirror. The stirring inside is yours, NOT theirs.

It DOES matter that you LIVE!

We designed this program to help you heal, to help you SOAR!

“For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.” – Psalm 33:9

Lent Day 18: Journaling for a Slimmer, Fuller Life

Hiiii!!!

I trust you’re doing great!

Just a quick note today. This program is the no-count, de-stress to trim program. Therefore, my invitation to you today is to record your changes.

Yes, your changes. No counting calories, foods or macros. This is a lifestyle change and a path for growth and this Lent series is intended also as a path to be closer to God. Then what to write down on a Journal for Growth?

  1. How are you manifesting your closeness to God in your life? In your work? In your taking care of yourself?
  2. What changes do you or others notice on you? On your ability to focus, energy levels, mood, behaviors?
  3. How do your clothes and your schedule look like now? (My hope would be more spacey)

Draw, write, add questions… and set an intention every day to become a better version of yourself by accepting your divine being as God would; set that intention to help you eat, move and meditate more in tune with the perfectly, imperfect you.

Happy soaring!

Lent Day 16 and 17 – Fast and Keep Lean!

Hii!

I know I have spoken about fasting in this program before. I cannot stress enough the physical, energetic and spiritual benfits you will get when you fast. I have spoken about liquid fasting. Today I wouldlike to spek about intermittent fasting.

Intermittent fasting means to keep your stomach empty for spans of 6 – 12 hours at a time which translates into no more than 3 meals a day. I have not only heard but also been on the 5 meal a day diet plan which works great when you’re eating tons of carbs, but can end up back-irint on your sugar levels. However, the healthier you eat, the less processed foods you eat, the more you will curve your cravings, the faster your body can heal, the higher you vibrate and the closer to God you will be. Too good to be true? Try it, for a day or two! You won’t regret it!

My ideal is 2 meals per day which translates easily into an intermittent fasting of 12 hours per leg.  If you’re eating quality meals you will not get hungrier than that. I do, howeverpracticliquid fasting betwen those two meals, but htis time I focus on quality teas, no protein, no sugar and packed with spices. perhaps amogst my favorites  is: ginger, lime, and add ginger, cinnamon and cayenne pepper.

Enjoy, heal, trim and grow!

Happy soaring!
